It's Just a Model

Unboxing Day I ordered my Falcon on Monday, December 18, 2017.  With all the shipping traffic during the holiday season, I didn't expect to receive anything until after Christmas.  I was surprised at the end of the week when I UPS delivered tow boxes on Friday; one containing the binder and the other containing Issues 17-22.  Just enough to wet my appetite and make the wait over the Christmas weekend take forever. On a hunch, I checked the UPS tracking number for my order and saw that 5 boxes were due to be delivered on Saturday (the 23rd).  We were supposed to leave for my mother's for the holiday weekend on Saturday, but there was no way I was going to let those boxes sit outside my front door all weekend.  So, enduring the frustration of my wife at not getting on the road, I waited for the boxes to arrive.  Fortunately they arrived in the early afternoon and we weren't too late getting to my mom's. Beginning the Journey Some opening thoughts before we get this project started. Build Order Rather than most of the build diaries I've seen so far, this one will not follow the subscription order as they are received from DeAgostini.  I purchased the full kit all at once, so I'll be free to assemble the model in any order I choose and won't have to take breaks while I wait for the next subscription installment to arrive.  As I begin, I'm primarily interested in getting the external model done.  Once I've got something that can be displayed, I'll go back and work on the internal components of the model.  As a result, some of my assembly won't be permanent.  I'll try to keep you updated on what work is permanent and what can be reversed or corrected later on. Opening Credits After looking through the internets, I've decided that what's really needed is another build diary for the DeAgostini Millennium Falcon.  Since I just so happen to have recently purchased the kit, I figured what better than to add my own diary to the mix.  I have no idea what this will turn into, but I hope it contributes something worthwhile.
